Abstract
For over two decades, the Center for Kapampangan Studies (CKS) of Holy Angel University (HAU) has become a leading institution in the research, preservation, and promotion of Kapampangan culture. One of its most important contributions is the establishment of museums that serve as pillars in strengthening and developing Kapampangan identity. However, the history of the CKS museums has not yet been fully gathered and analyzed. In response, this research aims to conduct the first systematic study of the history of the CKS museums to expand the discourse on Kapampangan studies, museum studies, and cultural identity research. Interviews were used as the primary methodology, with museum leaders as the main participants. This was also supplemented by existing documents related to CKS. The study presents the discursive foundations and objectives of CKS that guided the design, themes, and goals of the museums, as well as the challenges and changes over time that affected their structure, themes, and content. Overall, the CKS serves as a ‘one-stop shop’ for the history, art, and identity of the Kapampangan, and its museums consist of both permanent and temporary exhibits. These museums are not only preservers of history but also dynamic spaces that connect the past, present, and future. The research shows that the CKS museums continue to evolve and adapt to changing times while preserving the cultural identity of the Kapampangan.
